I drove down from LAX to Palm Springs in the middle of the night (for me, i.e. 10pm) and I had expected much worse from the rumours that go around of how the driving around LA is. The real shock came when I realised that I would really have to drive to get anywhere - the heat and lack of easily accessible and pleasant sidewalks weren't all that fun.

We're back here on LJ, with some days missing, but I'm still assessing what to do with this place. And today I'm breaking my own rules a bit - a collage! Mainly because I couldn't edit the photos well enough for a 4x3 format, nothing fit. In any case, with these photos we're off to California for a bit, on that trip I took in the second half of September.

The database on where-is-gali.net is being finicky and/or is down so until I stop being lazy and get it sorted out (or go to another host), please see the Tumblr hosted mirror of everything.

Oh, the photos I take sometimes. So yes, I had my annual medical check-up at work - everything is mostly fine, my anaemia is kind of back, the allergies are still being annoying, nothing new.

I discovered that K-swiss no longer makes running shoes and that is a tragedy because I only have one new pair of Blade Light II shoes left and once they're gone, they're gone. What I liked about K-swiss running shoes is that you always knew how they'd fit and never got surprises with terrible seams, from year to year and model to model. Ah well, time to find if other brands have become better at changing fewer things from year to year.

Oh yes, that week in September where it was hotter than in July! Il n'y a plus de saisons, ma p'tite dame!

I started noticing just how terribly short the days were the other day - makes me wonder how did I ever survive in Finland? But maybe it's so dramatic here because Seville is definitely in the wrong time zone and the light always feels wrong here.

Time to get into this thing because my photo backlog is getting longer and longer each day! So here we are, back with September 2nd where I once again proved that sometimes I am a creative adult - cereal out of tupperware for dinner is the best.

In case it wasn't evident - I am taking a bit of a break. It started because I thought I would post stuff during my holidays and that did not happen (mainly because holidays can get busy sometimes), and it continued because I'm starting to think I should rethink my posting schedule and habits. I usually edit/post stuff at 6:30am and I simply no longer want to do that. Maybe I'll switch to editing/posting once a week and schedule ahead for the whole week. Who knows!

What is it with me not being able to take focused photos lately?

One day my gaming laptop decided that wifi was not for it, the little icon disappeared and, like, properly disappeared... the wireless adaptor just stopped being recognised! The only thing that seems to work a bit is turning off the laptop, turning it upside down, putting it right way up and then restarting it. But before I figured that out I reinstalled everything twice. Go me.

Three things I am enjoying right now: doing absolutely nothing, rereading trashy fic and thinking that perhaps I should check my work email but then telling myself I still technically have six more days free of work emails. I'll have to answer to one or two... but I'll do that tomorrow.

League of Legends is one of those games that I just cannot get into because I can't stay focused for a whole game, let along more than one!

It takes very little to amuse me, this little soy sauce fish highly amused me.

I've got this volunteer thing down and it's actually quite a lot of fun being part of the check-in team - you get to make friends and see them every couple of months.

I know there is an "easy" way to convert C to F and vice versa but my brain seems to forget it the moment it stops seeing the equation. In any case, I've figured out that high-10s is mid-60s, high-20s is around mid-80s and 38 is 100. I doubt I'll encounter anything under that but, obviously, 0 is 32. While I do get that some peeps think that F temperatures make "more sense" for the human body (e.g. 100 is about body temperature) but nope.

[This is a place holder because it seems my normal hosting company is having major issues and all their servers are down - till all gets resolved... well, even the tumblr cannot be easily reached unless my posts appear on your dashboard. For now at least, I've asked the tumblr thing to stop redirecting to the blog.where-is-gali.net website, so that will hopefully happen soon]
