My whole world kind of turned upside down after reading an email about how it is no longer the norm to put two spaces after a full stop. I looked it up online and it's true, apparently it is no longer the norm to put a double space and in some cases Word will try to correct it.

Man, it really shocks me. The day I learned to type without looking at the keys, I learned that there are two spaces to be put after a full stop. It's automatic for me.

Actually no, I stopped watching Numb3rs when they use the Lagrange Theorem in a completely impossible way after having presented it wrong. But this little presentation of IRC just takes the cake, it's like playing spot the 129847329742 errors.



I think everyone knows about my love for IRC, one of the greatest things ever provided by Finland to the rest of the world. The person who wrote that presentation of IRC for the show clearly has never been on an IRC channel... or he's only been on one called #teentalk but even there I bet they don't use "leet speak".

It's as much a hacker place as the playground on Lauttasaari is. No really! Actually lots of people chat with their co-workers on IRC here. The uni actually provides us with Unix machines with irssi installed on them so that we can use IRC through SSH. Oh wait, does it count as hacker stuff because you actually have to use command lines instead of clicking places? There are some awesome channels though, the #eurovision one is great when the ESC time comes. Then there are those where I talk with people I will see in the evening anyway. It makes life that bit just more interesting at work.

So end of the story: why can't those damned shows try to present less stuff but with greater accuracy? They thrive on the ignorance of people and that just irks me to no end. Like CSI and their DNA testing done in a blink of an eye (alright, so not really blink of an eye but six hours? come on!) and their magic databases where they have stored all the info about everything.

That scarred me more than Bambi's mum getting shot.

Off to the airport I go!

You know how some pig out on ice cream or on crisps or cake? I just had a tin of baked beans. That felt so good! Yum!

Après un naufrage, on trouve, sur une île déserte et merveilleuse mais perdue au milieu du Pacifique :
- Deux Italiens et une Italienne.
- Deux Français et une Française.
- Deux Allemands et une Allemande.
- Deux Grecs et une Grecque.
- Deux Anglais et une Anglaise.
- Deux Bulgares et une Bulgare.
- Deux Suédois et une Suédoise.
- Deux Irlandais et une Irlandaise.
- Deux Russes et une Russe.
- Deux Suisses et une Suissesse.

Trois mois plus tard sur cette merveilleuse île déserte, voici ce qui s'est passé :
1) Un Italien a fait assassiner l'autre Italien pour l'Italienne.
2) Les deux Français et la Française forment un très harmonieux ménage à trois.
3) Les deux Allemands se partagent les faveurs de l'Allemande, en respectant très scrupuleusement l'alternance hebdomadaire.
4) Les deux Grecs couchent ensemble et la Grecque fait la cuisine et le ménage.
5) Les deux Anglais attendent désespérément que quelqu'un veuille bien avoir l'obligeance de leur présenter l'Anglaise.
6) Les deux Bulgares, après avoir jeté un regard à la Bulgare et scrupuleusement observé l'horizon ont finalement décidé de tenter leur chance à la nage...
7) Les deux Suédois spéculent toujours sur les vertus du suicide alors que la Suédoise use et abuse des bains de soleil pour mettre en valeur son corps.
8) Les Irlandais ont commencé par diviser l'île entre Nord et Sud et ont installé une distillerie au centre. L'important pour eux, c'est que les Anglais n'en aient pas une goutte ! ! ! Quant au sexe, considérant qu'après quelques litres de whisky, il règne une sorte de brouillard épais sur l'île, la question ne se pose même pas.
9) Le premier Russe a épousé la femme russe et a divorcé peu après. Il est le meilleur client de la distillerie irlandaise. Le second Russe s'est fait un peu d'argent en tuant un des deux Italiens et en négociant les visas de sortie des deux Bulgares. Avec cet argent, il a acquis 33,3 % des parts de la distillerie irlandaise, obtenu une licence de vente exclusive pour les Anglais et a engagé un Grec comme vendeur. Il emploie de plus les Allemands comme gardes du corps pour lui et sa fiancée russe en promettant à la Bulgare le poste de nurse pour son premier enfant. Enfin, il prend régulièrement des cours d'anglais avec la Suédoise.
10) Les trois Suisses, quant à eux, ont sorti un nouveau catalogue Printemps/été

You guys! I got the cutest underpants ever today. I just had to share that with everyone, funky undies make me happy.

Yesterday I had a couple of minutes to kill before I met up with people for lunch so I went to H&M to see if they had any nice summer clothes. They did but I didn't have enough time to actually try anything but I think there is some kind of conspiracy going on because 50% of the female population in that store was pregnant, like "omfg I am due any minute" pregnant. What the hell happened in Finland 8 or 9 months ago? A large power outage? A scary storm? Kind of like the baby boom in France after the December '99 storm but only here it must have been in September or October 2007...

So that was my observation from yesterday. The computer is acting up today and that certainly isn't fun. Oh and the laundry must be done by now. Dammit I'm so productive this morning it's almost killing me. Or I just had too much sugar, also very possible.
