It seems we're getting another case of white Gondor trees! This morning while walking to the bus there was clearly frozen mist flying everywhere and that's how it started last time. You can't really see it in the photo but maybe I'll have the time this afternoon to go out by the water, there are pretty nice trees over there. I've also discovered the doom of our civilisation: parcels with a tracking number. So my Diana Mini was somewhere in Turku, or it was there last time that it was scanned. It's killing me to know exactly where it is because there is a clear lag. The position stays the same but the date is always changed to the current day (which is cheating!) and yes, I am way too excited about it. I was hoping to get the camera before Sunday so I can take it to Laskiainen. I personally won't be going on a sled because sleds and I do not agree but it's always a fun event. Also yesterday on the bus, an old lady really wanted to talk to me. She told me stories about her life, about being a stewardess for Pan-American, working at a Finnish consulate thing in Geneva and so on. Right before she got off the bus she asked me if I had a Finnish boyfriend and when I said I didn't, she told me that if I ever get one, I should choose wisely. Never pick the kind that is a bad drunk because that's a common type in Finland. Well, old talkative lady, I fully agree with you on that one! Finally, everyone's been saying it but I'll say it also, GoogleBuzz, what the heck? They develop things like that when it's almost certain no one is ever going to use it. I suppose some peeps will use it, it's like GoogleChat, I don't really see the point of it. People will disagree with the GoogleChat thing, I suppose. Many people seem to like it. But actually I don't see the point of any chat program besides IRC. And Skype but that's just because IRC does provide ways of calling people. Why couldn't they implement that in 1988 when they created IRC? Seriously. |

Tech troubles :(
Feb. 12th, 2010 10:25 amTorture of the modern ages: being surrounded by computers when one of the computer screens is making that annoying whistling sound that only few people can hear... and you happen to be one of those people. My goodness, it's terrible. It really makes my head want to explode! Two more hours. It's going to be a long two hours. Time for some more fill in the blanks! 1. I am hoping my Valentine's day this year includes nothing special. I've said it before, I don't really see the point of Valentine's day and Sheldon explained very well why St. Valentine was on last week's TBBT. 2. My biggest guilty pleasure is watching Attack On the Pin-Up Boys over and over again. Yes, I do watch it almost weekly. I can't help it. 3. I am most proud of being completely self-sufficient and being less than two years away from my PhD. 4. If I could choose one outfit to live in it would be my light green shorts, my pink knee-high socks (not worn knee-high though), one of my comfy bras, a random t-shirt and my Stanford hoodie. 5. People are here for a reason. If you know the reason you would have scored really high on my final high school philosophy exam. I got a 2/20... so I don't know the reason. 6. I would rather be somewhere warm than in Helsinki today and in the upcoming weeks (up until my trip to China). 7. I love my random IRC chats more than all the boring stuff that I'm supposed to be doing. |
Day 100
12.02.10 - Finally changed the layout of my LJ. I'll have to remember to change the embedding settings on where-is-gali.net. Then I'll have to edit the picture in the right and tweak a couple more things and it should be ok.
I really forgot just how much trouble it is to change layouts when you really want to tweak things and not stick with the usual LJ layouts. I still don't get much to this S2style code, it really doesn't seem user friendly or maybe it's once again my logic which does not get along with everyone else's logic.
Also the layout will probably look weird or disproportionate in my resolutions, I blame my main ThinkPad, it has always had a weird resolution and that's the one I made this layout for.
Also #2, please notice this is my 100th photo in the 365days project! Go me!
And how about another fill in the blanks?
(because Lomolitos are awesome and people have give aways with some are really, really, really awesome)
I always:
- brush my teeth at least twice a day.
- unplug those "vampire" things such as phone chargers when I don't use them.
I sometimes:
- forget people's birthdays.
- wish I weren't living in Finland.
I never:
- regret my past decisions (or almost never, least I try not to).
- spend more than a week without talking with my parents on the phone (unless I'm travelling but then I email them almost every single day).
