Encore une longueur de retard.
Jun. 24th, 2011 08:44 amAh. One thing you can't say about the SNCF anymore is that they're not innovative. In the past few weeks I've noticed that they've enhanced our waiting time. Previously I would get to the train station and I would see that there was a delay of 5/10/15/20/25/.../45 minutes (yes, 45 minutes, on a half hour trip) indicated on the board next to my train number. I'd shake my fist a bit but then sit down and get out my book/iPod/laptop and wait till the train comes, on sunny days outside and on windy days inside the tiny train station. Well... some genius must have thought really hard and came up with the idea that when we come to the train station and see that there is a delay we (the commuters) get upset, mainly because those delays happen quite often. So now they mark all the trains as being on time and at 6:59am, when the train is supposed to be at the station, we're all eagerly waiting for it. Even the name of the train turns green and that means that the train is at the station! But then it's 7:00am. Then it's 7:01am. 7:02am. The name of the train turns red, it means there is a delay. 10 minutes usually. In the morning it's usually because there is another train that has priority over my commuter train and it's a bit late and so at around 7:04am a really fast train goes through the station, then finally a few minutes later my train comes in. Obviously they had to know that the priority train was going to be late, they never stop along the tiny stations so that means that they were late from the start therefore they knew that my train was going to be late for a good while, not 3 minutes after the train was supposed to be at the station! Why didn't they mark it on the board? I suppose waiting a few minutes when it's nice and sunny is fine but on days like today when there is enough wind for us to leave Kansas, it certainly is not fun. But as I said, it must be a new "I bet people will be less upset" scheme some SNCF genius came up with. Blah. Friday. Number of delays in the morning this week: 2. 10 minutes each time. Number of delays in the evening: 2. Lucky us only had 5 minutes each time. Good week though, no half hour surprises. Moving on... ( +4 - clearing out the backlog ) |
