Dans la tête.
Oct. 3rd, 2011 06:46 amOne very annoying aspect of globalisation is that now one can hardly find any non-global-brand teas in supermarkets. Sure, Lipton and co. provide variations from country to country in terms of flavourings but it's not the same as seeing smaller non-brand stuff. It's also very much applicable to many other things, like diary. In Finland you will often find a Finnish flag on locally produced things like milk cartons, etc. In Estonia I've seen that they go as far as including an Estonian flag on the shelf right next to the price tag. Alas there aren't that many of those flags... but I did find some local cheese that sounded pretty awesome. Yes, I'm weird, I know. But on the Marathon course they had this huge sign for "oma" something and I figured that it was some like "mum's... " but GoogleTranslate tells me it means "their..." (in this case "their curd", wtf). I don't know what the association between the "oma" on the course and the one on the packaging was but somehow it made sense in my head at the time. ![]() ( +8 - cheese, tea, some more buildings ) |
