Dôme truffé... je me sacrifie.

Another episode of Gali is a tourist in the cookie aisle (but only at the local Carrouf'). This time we're in the adult section with some fancy looking cookies. And they're new (or rather they're "nouveau", "nieuw" and "neu"... I like the "nieuw" best, anyone familiar with the proper pronunciation?) but I'm not going to go into a google spree like I did for Monsieur Biscuit and find the exact date of when the first box hit the shelves. Alright, first - the packaging. It's made to sell but why the heck is there "dôme truffé" and "pure chocolade" (and not "pur chocolat")? Ah. Look at that description! "Un biscuit croquant recouvert d'une crème intense au chocolat et enrobé d'un chocolat noir oncteux." For once I didn't pick something marketed towards kids... although I do have to admit that the Hello Kitty sticker that I got in the HK cookie box is now proudly making my mini-computer that much better. From above, the cookies weren't as pretty as on the photo. We could have expected that. The little mini package was rather nice though, foil finish and everything. "Un biscuit croquant... Hum... the cookie was crunchy, I'll give you that. ... recouvert d'une crème intense au chocolat Not so much intense as super sweet. ... et enrobé d'un chocolat noir oncteux." I can't describe the taste of the chocolate exterior but the tiny bits of chocolate at the top were the thing that made the cookie. It's a tiny thing but it adds an extra texture. Conclusion: this one was a lovely cookie because of the different textures, the crunchy cookie and the top chocolate bits were very nice. The chocolate filling was a bit too sugary for me but then again anything under 70% cocoa is too sweet for my tastes. I would recommend... but do have a bottle of water at hand, just in case. |
