Random thing of the day, what do you call a fizzy soft drink? I call it a soda and apparently most of the east coast US does so too...

Back to sulking about my shitty week... and it's only Wednesday!

I call it...whatever it is, if you see what I mean. Fanta, Sprite, Diet Coke...whatever it is... I might call it a cold drink. Soda to me is soda water, as in, vodka soda...interesting map XD

I think it would make a great saying on a tee-shirt, like that at least people would know when I'm bitchy and don't want to talk to anyone :p

I totally agree with that! Especially considering I feel that way most of the time.

I think St. Louis, MO might be the southern border of the word "soda," since if you drive across town you get people who call it "pop." We city girls call it soda, anyhow.

It's definitely soda! As you go west, even within NY state, people start calling it pop.

Soft drink! Or, when I was younger, fizzy drink. Definitely not soda, I've never called it that in my life. Or pop. Although my relatives in Yorkshire, UK call it pop!

In most parts of Canada we call it "pop" though a lot of older people still say "soft drink". In Quebec it's "boisson gazeuse" or you specifically call it by name (Coke, Pepsi, etc).

Now that you mention it, I would probably use "boisson gazeuse" too while in France.

Oddly, when I lived in Montreal, most Anglophones called it "soda" (especially the ones who'd grown up there).

It's never been anything other than "soft drink" or "fizzy drink" for me. The latter more specifically when I was young.
