When in Finland...

After Vappu and Manda's crowning and the funky overalls, I went to see another Finnish student tradition: the Independence Day walk/parade.

Gali + taking night pictures = not bff.

After the police car, the flags.
Students with their caps. After the before last ones went, we joined in and walked with them to the city center.

On the way to Tarja's "castle", Esplanadi is full of lights and they're getting ready to open the Christmas market on Monday.

Saying hello to the President, she was there the whole time, waving. Then she went inside her castle and shook hands with everyone who was invited there, 2000+ people!

Finally, the Senate Square where the choir sang and there were speeches but we left after the singing.
It was really nice to see all the students respecting the tradition, no drinking, no kidding around, all the Finnish students nicely dressed. Very lovely evening.
