Pea soup... not on a Thursday.

Ah. It's been one of those Sundays. I woke up with that annoying feeling one gets right behind the ears right before coming down with something and it's been with me all day. Honestly, why does coming down with a cold always involve getting sore muscles? I just hope this won't turn into anything bigger, I haven't been properly sick for a while now and it's been quite nice. At least the weather is lovely, gotta love the south! Last week for some reason I started craving pea soup. Sure Finland is the land of Thursday pea soup but in the last two and a half years I must have had some about three times... mainly at Christmas markets. Still, it's one of those soups that are so easy to make and I had found some dried peas in my mum's cupboard. It came out rather good, if I may say so myself, and my parents didn't seem to mind it all that much when I made them finish it when they came back from their holidays. I say that's pretty good even.

I kind of dropped the timer... and the top piece came off... and since I have a degree in mechanical engineering I did what any self-respecting mechanical engineer would do: I put it back the wrong way. It's been wrong since then but putting it back on correctly would take out half the fun of guessing what's going on.

Also yogurt cake tastes a lot better if you whip the eggs before adding all the other stuff.

Definitely! I bet that's one of the reasons I almost never got sick during winter... all that pea soup on Thursdays at the cafeteria.

Bean Soup?

Have you ever tried the old U.S. country folks (who knows, maybe it's Finnish too?!) white bean with smoked ham or turkey soup? I got addicted to that last winter and it's also easy to make if you can simmer it for a while. Very satisfying!

I can't say I have. I usually only have white beans in a pseudo chili as it's quick to make... I'm usually not fond of soups I didn't grow up with so that leaves me with pea soup, tomato soup and blended veggies soup, everything else kind of puts me off a bit for some reason.
