Guess what? Another day. Another downpour.

How much snow do you think we could have had by now if it had been a tad colder during the past months? We'd be totally snowed in. The really sad part is that I have just 25 kilometres to run in order to reach 1000km for the year and every night I look at the weather and at best it indicates a tiny raindrop ("not a lot of rain") and I think to myself that it's great, I can go for a run! I wake up and I hear the wind and the rain beating down and all I can come up with is that even if it rains in Marseille it would still be more fun to run in the rain there where there is a little bit more light and it's warmer.

Fitting with the theme of doom and gloom... another set from the PhotoSwap! Part 1 was here.

Yes, yes, I know. Too much complaining about the darkness and the weather... but come on! I had prepared myself mentally that this year I was going to get on with Hki darkness and weather without a hitch, keeping active, etc. And then this freaky weather happens! It was supposed to be cold and snowy, or at least drier. *goes back to her little corner of complaining along with pretty much 99% of Helsinki dwellers*
cerealjoe: (cycling - with a friend)
I've officially decided to put the bike to rest for the winter as of Wednesday because of a bunch of things - my wrist not being in the best of shapes, cycling on gravel when there is no snow or ice is not actually fun, it's raining all the time, pedestrians with umbrellas are amazingly dangerous, I was kind of mentally tired of it... and now I just have to bring it upstairs because the storage area in the cellar is just not made to store a bike. I guess I'll have a new roommate for a while till the non-existent snow melts.

I've had this whole idea of writing a post about how annoying pedestrians can be to cyclists, especially tourists who do not understand the local "share the sidewalk" system, but obviously that kind of got lost in the tons of post ideas that I should have posted about at one point or another. I guess you can make up your own rant about peeps not respecting the signs about where cyclists and where pedestrians should go... especially on that stretch of sidewalk close by where the sidewalk on one side of the road is for bikes only and the other is for pedestrians only. Clearly indicated by huge signs telling pedestrians to go on the other side of the road (I guess it's mainly because there is a rather bad gradient at one point and it could be dangerous for a bike to have to swerve or stop to avoid a large group of pedestrians) but they're never really respected. *sigh*

Oh, and these photos are from early October, iirc. There are no leaves now.
