Yes, it's that time again. It's ESC time. It's Eurovision time. It's time to bring out the white board and make bets on who can have the most cringe-inducing performance.

I'll be honest, I am not prepared for the ESC this year at all. Yesterday was the second semi-final and the only ESC thing I've managed to do was actually check the ESC app this morning to see who was in the final on Saturday. Yep, I have no clue what 99% of the contestants look or sound like. This is so unlike me!

But to be true to the ESC spirit I put the Best of ABBA on for yesterday's commute and listened to some France Gall.

I saw three songs of the first semi-final, including the Finn. Now, I quite liked the Finnish girls last year and the Finnish guy this year seems ok, if only he could try and hold the notes when they need to be held. Then again, his going off key once or twice is nothing compared to some monstrosities we have seen in the past years.

Oh and the Frenchie was given as the winner by some bookmakers at one point. Like that could ever happen! We have no "allies" and even those who should be "allies" never vote for France because it's not like France will not be n the final... when you don't have geopolitical allies, use money!

(as a side note, those two first photos are of an actual map that's in the cafeteria... perhaps one day someone will get rid of it but up until then, the USSR and Czechoslovakia is still well alive)

I object to your map!

Surprisingly we got trough to the final as well. Iiiiinteresting! :D

A part of me hopes Jedward would win, because that'd serve the Irish right! They'd get to perform on two years! :D Also, they're entertaining in a very, very exhausting way.

I didn't watch the semi-finals because mostly I just forgot they were on. But I'll watch the final. It still often amuses me. :D

I had to go google who "Jedward" was, I must say that I am now scared and scarred.

They didn't even show the semi-finals around here because who would want to watch them as we're already in, right? Pfff... those telly channels just don't get the appeal of the ESC. I caught a bit of the first one on a Russian channel but obviously yesterday there weren't showing the second semi-final because they weren't in it. Those bastards!

Bwahahaha. You know. On the Jedward thing. :D I have seen them on British panel shows. Usually the hosts ALMOST manage to wrangle them, before it all falls apart. Oh, Eurovision WILL be fun! :D

They show all semi-finals here, obviously. I suspect there are those who might complain if we didn't. And at least one channel should show it there, surely! There are people who like it, no? (:

So, so, so much to catch up on! I've absolutely not been following all my usual panel shows... major WTFness. And yeah, I can only imagine that it might be hilarious if they go off the bat but alas the ESC is rather conservative, remember the Tatu year? They showed it with a 25sec delay just in case the girls did something not too politically correct.

My colleague said he thinks the Finn may be in the top 5. Ha! I have only heard the song once and it was too many times :D
