Pictures does not reflect how I'm feeling at all

Today and tomorrow are probably my two favourite days in Finland. I love Vappu so much, it's just beyond incredible. Maybe it's because it was on April 30th and May 1st that I met the people who made my summer just amazing last year but I'm just in love with those days. For many foreigners, it's a day when Finns get drunk beyond reason but for me, it's just a wonderful tradition.

Tonight, people will gather at the Amanda (Manta) statue on Esplanadi and the statue will get washed and then she will receive her student cap. It's a great opportunity to drink some sparkling wine... although this year, I went for a small bottle of good French champagne. If I am going to drink something, it'd better be high quality. Afterwards, some people don't even sleep till the next morning but I'll just go to a party and leave before the last tram goes. I need a night full of sleep if I want to be in the park at 8am the next morning!

Tomorrow, we'll be in Kaivopuisto having a picnic. It will be marvelous, it really will. This year I've decided to fully enjoy it without alcohol, I've grow up quite a bit in the past couple of months and, especially after the Hki-Stockholm-Hki cruises, I've decided cheap alcohol is just not for me.

I can't stop smiling today. And I bet that smile won't go away for a while yet.

I concede, I am terribly jealous today =) I would lovelovelove to be where you are right now! I miss picnics in Kaivopuisto, I miss Finland a lot, I miss all such things!

Also it's funny how reading that someone else is smiling has the capacity to make me smile too. Cheers =)

You should join us one of the upcoming years! It's such a blast and we're getting lots of couchsurfers and it's always so nice to see people amazed at the fact that Finns can be so lovely!

Have fun :) We used to go to Kaivopuisto park earlier but with kids it just too much of a nuisance so we stopped.. Maybe some year again?
