Has anyone read anything good lately? I've mainly been on a Pratchett reading line these months but I also read this. And I felt really disappointed because I really cannot bring myself to like any of the author's books. All I feel towards the main characters is disdain, they're beyond pathetic and their lives are absolutely miserable. I just don't see all the beauty that people keep on talking about... it's really sad because the translations are amazingly done. But yeah, book recs? I read pretty much everything, so all recs are welcome. Speaking of books, lately there have been loads of ads for Le Cercle littéraire des amateurs d'épluchures de patates by Mary Ann Shaffer and that title alone makes me want to read the book. In English it doesn't sound as fetching, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. "Amateurs d'épluchures de patates", it just has a nice ring to it. I'll get the book in English but still, a tiny nod to the translator for the title. Oh, and the final photos from the Chinon & Agfa200 combo! ( +2 - some unfocused Pratchett and hot stuff ) |
