I visited the Reina Sofia museum on the same day as the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum and the latter was much more pleasant I thought. The Reina Sofia museum is all over the place, the layout was extremely hard for me to get a hold of and some of the works definitely could have showcased much better. I did like the Bibliographical Forms exhibit, which I have written about previously, and the Hackney Collective wall was an interesting read, but other than that there wasn't much to catch my attention. The Thyssen-Bornemisza museum also houses quite an eclectic collection but it's much more coordinated, I find, than the Reina Sofia collection. There are works from all eras and yet they make sense. Oh, and on that day I also dropped by the botanical gardens... which was a waste of time because I have yet to see such a sorry looking botanical garden anywhere! I'm such it's all nice and pretty in the summer but even the winter section was sorry looking in the middle of winter.

I think most bigger cities are really trying to have at least some signs in English in these parts of the world, so that's always good! Heck, in Marseille you even get some messages translated to English over the PA system... I get weirded out every single time.
