So 17th or 24th?
Jan. 18th, 2011 03:58 pmTo my utmost horror I learnt this morning on the radio that yesterday* was the most depressing day of the year and I completely failed at being depressed. One has to be rather bored though to actually try to come up with a theory as to on which day the majority of people would feel depressed. But really, "most depressing day", what a concept. "Depressing moment", I get that but "most depressing day" seems like a harsh thing to call a chunk of time. Bah. And after all there always seem to be good moments for me in a day. There are family dinners. There is listening to the radio in the morning. There is the first cup of cocoa after coming home from work. And of course one cannot forget the sound of deadlines flying by... that would send anyone into a depressed state, but there is something about missing a deadline but looking back at all the deadlines that were met that's quite lovely. "Shoot for the moon, fail but still end up among the stars" kind of thing. Then there is also people watching on the ski slopes with a cup of over-sweetened hot chocolate... ( +2 - because food was also involved a bit ) * actually the interwebs tells me that 2011 is a special year and that there is some confusion as to when Blue Monday is. It should either be on the third Monday of January or on the last Monday where there is a full week after in January. Usually that falls on the same day but alas not in 2011. So there are some who say it's the 17th and others who say it's the 24th. Either way, silly people, instead of pondering on that go have some fun. |
