cerealjoe: (hehehe...)

This kind of made up for the stuff I wrote about in that entry.

Thank you awesome person for holding that sign.

Seen on we ♥ it
cerealjoe: (Jaro - Pixie Jr.)

The next entry will be about me spazzing about my new (rather expensive) toy. The store opens in a bit than two hours... I could have gotten there yesterday when I ordered but I just didn't feel going out in the pouring rain.

This morning though, I'd like to mention a thing that makes my life so much easier. One of them is the "testbed" project they have on the Finnish Meteorological Institute website. It give you a local map of where the rain is currently. I know that there is almost the same function on the hs.fi (iirc) website but theirs is much harder to read and the predictions are most than fuzzy. This one is lovely and it's great if you have to go outside, you can see just how long you've got before you get drenched.

I suppose I should also mention the World Cup. I didn't watch any of it, I kind of looked at the results at the end of the matches. Oh heck, I'll be shallow... and only look at the pretties.

Someone tell me who the pretties at the WC this year are! No, I'm not lazy. There are just too many teams for me to check out!

Yeah. Someone needs to replace the Czech NT. See, even Janek is not happy about the lack of hot Czechs.

Janek

Bah. I don't feel like going out anywhere in this rainy weather...
cerealjoe: (Jaro - trop dure la vie)

Ah. 2 days and about 8 hours till the World Cup starts... and for once I'm not really all that excited. Football is still one of those sports I enjoy but this year there is really only France for me to cheer for. I would even say that the selection matches were much more exciting for me than what's coming up.

In any case, I'll be mainly for France. Then if ever South Korea has a match while I'm there... I might cheer for them! Heck, if I find one I'll even get a Korean flag to add to my collection.

So France is playing on the 11th, 17th and 22nd. They're in Group A.

In Group B... South Korea is playing on the 12th, 17th and 22nd so at least I'll be able to catch that last match in situ (who cares if that's correctly used!) and that should be fun.

For all the other groups I really don't have any favourites I would like to see pass that round. It's pathetic.

That's the end of football talk for now. Till the 11th when we get our asrses beaten by Uruguay.

Speaking of holiday, I'm slightly starting to panic because I'm just so used to pre-booking everything and apparently in Korea it is common practice to just show up somewhere and find a hostel/hotel on the spot. It's going to be interesting, we'll see!

I can't wait to just kick back for a few days... and then I'll consider doing some work back in Seoul. What is wrong with me? I'm turning into my father. I really am. I already know that I'll be taking some work related stuff with me in case inspiration comes.

In other news, have I ever mentioned how much I love poppies? They remind of my childhood in the countryside. Everything is better in a green field with red poppies. Everything! Even Lake Geneva is better with poppies, it's pretty awesome by itself too.

two more photos of things I liked back in Switzerland )
cerealjoe: (janek - pretty)

Let's talk football. I've been out of the loop with football even more than I have been with cycling. I was rather surprised to learn that both Morientes and Heinze now play for Marseille and hey, I only learnt a day after the fact that Marseille is won the French league. I'm a bad, bad, bad person.

In any case, the other day I also learnt that the World Cup is only a month away! For most of it I'll be doing other things such as hanging out in Korea but hey, since their results in 2002, maybe it'll be a huge thing there. Right, this whole thing reminded me that I'm usually for France, Ukraine and Czech Republic. I'm shallow I'm mainly for Czech Republic because the team is pretty and that reminded me of the CR "dream team" with all the pretties, back in the day when Pixie still played with them...

An... the good old days.

I haven't heard much about about Milan Baros or Ujfi or Janek in quite some time... and I've only kind of followed Jaro's actions here and there (still playing for Bordeaux). I remember that the trio there got into trouble last year but I really had to google what the hell they're up to now.

Well, Milan is in Turkey. Plays with Harry Kewell on a team I've never heard of. Then again, I don't know any Turkish teams. Ujfi is in Spain. Hum... right. I haven't heard about that move but I bet the team colours suit him less than the Fiorentina ones! Janek is still playing for Milan, he's thinking of quitting the NT just along with Ujfi.

Who else was part of the team back in the day? Pixie is still retired. Rosicky is still the most adorable tiny little player on the field kind of still plays for Arsenal. The most surprising is Koller. After Monaco, he played somewhere in Russia and now he's in AS Cannes. AS Cannes. It's in in Championnat National, I don't even know what that is. Is it 3rd league or something? In any case, he must love the south of France (and I don't blame him)...

Right. I feel so old in a way, I can't follow all the changes going on. I have teams in my head that correspond to a certain era and that's how it should always be. Like AS Monaco should always be the "dream team" that went to the CL final! (that's why seeing Morientes and Heinze in Marseille is still a bit weird for me)

There was really no point to this post beyond saying that I'm weird and sometimes I wonder late at night what the hell happened to Milan Baros.

Photo from San Diego, no relation to content of post.

Gah. I am *this* close to ripping my hair out because of the terrible wireless connection at this hotel. Actually an FO post should follow soon with what I think about this hotel (and trip).

I'm so tired. We left Helsinki yesterday at around noon. We made it to Paris. Took the RER. Took the TGV to Germany. Took tram. Walked a bit. Checked into hotel at around 9pm. Went for dinner. I came back "early" at around midnight. Got up at around 7am. Had breakfast, met up at 8:15am with luggage in tow. Walked. Took tram. Walked. Listened to people presenting stuff I couldn't really care about. Walked. Took tram. Took one train. Were told to take another train. Finally got on the TGV to Paris. Got out at Gare de l'Est. Took metro. Took RER. Walked. Checked into hotel at 10pm. Went out to get a sandwich. Now in room.

So... more talks to listen to tomorrow but at least we should have some time to go exploring.

I am really not made for trips with others, I really like being free in my movements.

But in other news... I caught a bit of the Marseille/Milan game and Morientes now plays for Marseille? Since when??? I still remember him being on the "dream team" of 2003/2004 at ASM. When he was all "on est finale, on est finale!" on the plane... and everyone was like "oh, he's just acting all used to it, having played for Real, 'final of the CL? every year!'..." Ah... back in the day of Jaro at ASM too. But come on, Morientes in Marseille?

Just checked Morientes' wiki. He only signed in 2009 with Marseille. I feel a tad less bad now.
cerealjoe: (Good Omens - what's my point again?)
So in short form here are some updates:

- Marseille now, really warm and nice.
- Going skiing tomorrow for the long week-end.
- Not so excited about the new DW.
- Apparently a huge part of the Czech NT got sacked because of (supposed) hookers.
- Jaro is still adorable.
- Linda the bunny is pretty cute too and adorable like hell.

Full stop.
